Commonly asked questions about permanent cosmetics

What colors are available?
BioTouch pigments come in a variety of colors. You can select from more than 20 natural tones or we can blend your own unique color.

How permanent is it?
Treatment is permanent and will not wash off. However, it will soften with age and may need to be retouched in 3 to 5 years. The duration of permanent or semi-permanent makeup depends on the depth of needle penetration during the procedure. Skin type and after-care are determining factors in achieving lasting results. A variety of factors influence the longevity of your permanent makeup, but usually it will last from 3 to 5 years for darker skin, and 7 to 10 years on lighter skin. Clients need to follow all instructions carefully so that their makeup color can last many years.

How safe is it?
BioTouch pigments are formulated with iron oxides and carbon based shades which are safe and approved by the FDA for cosmetic use, colorants, and micropigmentation to the face and body. These compounds are naturally present in the body. Strict sanitation and sterilization procedures are enforced to reduce the possibility of infection or contamination, but the client also has the responsibility of keeping the treated area clean while it’s healing. If you plan to undergo any other procedures such as laser treatment, Botox, microdermabrasion, etc., discuss this with our medical aesthetician prior to your treatment.

Does it fade?
Some fading will occur, which is normal. Our medical aesthetician will deposit pigment deeply enough to prevent color from scabbing, but diligent after-care will lock in color. However, periodic touch-ups are a must.

Is there pain or swelling?
There is mild discomfort during the treatment session, which can be easily prevented with the application of a topical anesthetic cream used for numbing the area. Comfort levels vary from person to person. Some clients may experience some swelling depending on their skin’s sensitivity. Most applications look great immediately after the procedure!

What can I expect following the procedure?
You will have only temporary restrictions: avoid steamy areas such as spas or hot tubs, as well as contact with chlorine. You must not rub, pick, or apply additional cosmetics to the treated area until it is completely healed. Normal recovery time is 5 to 10 days.
